Kasane Michi is a large scale mixed use masterplan that reimagines the waterfront edge of Toyosu, Tokyo, through the lens of layered connectivity, urban porosity, and cultural memory. Rooted in extensive GIS analysis and grid restructuring, the project softens Toyosu’s rigid planning with a finer grain urban logic , one that welcomes human scale movement, diverse programs, and the subtle rhythms of city life.
Translating to “Layered Path,” Kasane Michi explores a mixed rise podium tower system that invites interaction across scales — from intimate courtyards and community decks to bold civic gestures that frame the skyline. The design blends architecture and landscape into a crafted urban ecosystem, threading together station nodes, street life, and the waterfront. It is not just a redevelopment — it is a reweaving of Toyosu’s fragmented tissue into a walkable, vibrant, and memory laced future.
