India’s rich cultural heritage, rooted in ancient civilization, manifests through stories, books, songs, art, science, and architecture. Among its vibrant traditions, the tribes of India hold significant historical and cultural value. This project aims to redefine the urban identity of a developing town by highlighting the endangered indigenous handicrafts of the Karbi Anglong District, impacting local lives and livelihoods.

In Manja, Assam, various tribes such as the Karbis, Dimasas, and Manipuris showcase their heritage through crafts passed down generations. The Karbis excel in bamboo and beadwork, Dimasa and Manipuri women weave intricate handloom patterns, and the Kumaars specialize in unique pottery styles. Understanding these crafts provides insight into the tribes’ identities and lifestyles.

Creating a cohesive platform for these indigenous crafts will help preserve and enhance the identity, skills, and commerce of the Karbi Anglong District and its artisans.
